Testimonial

I had a combination of tummy tuck and liposuction in Lithuania, clinic NordEsthetics. The scar was placed far down, so it will not appear over the bikini-edge. Got a great follow-up both before and after surgery. I am very positive about how quickly I got answers. Some days my questions were answered just 10 minutes after the mail was sent. Would recommend this to anyone considering plastic surgery.

Took a full tummy tuck, liposuction of the hips and abs splicing. I am very pleased with the result! The nurses and doctor are all very professional. The nurses speak ok English. Doctors and the anesthesiologist speak perfect English. Communication will not be a problem as everyone is very careful to ensure that you understand what you are going through.

What payments do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard and Maestro, both credit and debit cards. We also take cash: Euros, Litas, American Dollars and Pound Sterling. However, in order to book a surgery date we ask our clients to transfer a deposit.
Keep in mind that banks may have specific policies with regards to foreign payments. Therefore, it is recommended to contact your bank in advance and notify them about your payment to Lithuania.

Do you include flight tickets and accommodation into the overall price?

Flight tickets and accommodation are not included. But we can help you choose the best hotel and help you book your room. You will not need any deposit for hotel accommodation.

Do you always operate with general anaesthesia?

For minor surgeries such as otoplasty and other procedures only local anaesthesia is used.

Is it possible to have two surgeries in a single day?

Our professional surgeons will advise you on the best solution, as it depends on each individual patient’s health, length and complexity of the surgery, etc.

I’ve slimmed down recently and I’d like to have a body lift surgery. When can I start planning it?

In order to remove any excess skin after weight loss it is highly recommended to keep your weight stable for at least a year. The same applies to other surgeries. However, you may start planning in advance.

Is cosmetic surgery performed on people who are underage?

Cosmetic surgery is not recommended for people who are under 18. After all, puberty is the time when our bodies change the most, so there is no need to rush. Older patients are not subject to any upper age limit.

What is the shortest period of stay at the clinic once the surgery is completed?

A lot depends on the type of surgery performed. In the majority of cases patients stay for up to 2 days at the clinic. Then the surgeon evaluates the health of the patient, checks the blood test results and only then discharges him or her to recover at home.

Can I leave right after the surgery?

Patients who had minor surgeries or procedures and had local anaesthesia are allowed to leave on the same day as the surgery. However, patients who had general anaesthesia are asked to stay at the clinic for at least one night to keep track of the recovery. With the patient at the clinic we can perform the necessary medical tests, check the patient’s condition and provide full medical assistance. A patient will be discharged from the hospital only after his health has been fully assessed.

How long after the surgery should I stay in Lithuania?

We recommend our patients to stay in Lithuania for at least 5 days after the surgery. Usually the overall stay lasts for approximately 1 week. In some specific cases the stay may be shorter or longer. Your customer service representative will advise on the length of stay in your case.

Do patients travel alone?

In half of the cases our patients choose to travel on their own. We are here to assist them during their stay and provide our patients with all the needed information and contact details in case any questions arise.

Should I book a flight to Kaunas or Vilnius airport?

NordClinic is located in the city of Kaunas. It will take around 15 minutes for you to arrive at our clinic from the Kaunas airport. The time needed to travel from Vilnius airport to our clinic is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Thus, if you can, book a flight to Kaunas. However, rest assured that we will arrange your transportation from Vilnius airport as well, free of charge.

Is there anything that I should bring along on my trip?

If you are taking any special medication that has been approved in advance by our anaesthesiologist, you can bring it along to take it as prescribed. It’s also a good idea to bring your laptop, a good book, or even a newspaper to help you pass the time while at the clinic.

If there’s a person accompanying me, can he/she stay at the clinic with me?

It is not recommended for the accompanying person to stay at the clinic overnight.

Do your staff members speak English?

All the staff members at our clinic speak English.

Are there any medical tests I should have carried out before my arrival to Lithuania?

Before the surgery we will ask you to fill out a short questionnaire for us. This is necessary for the surgeon, who reviews it and advises on certain tests that can be done back at home. Yet in the majority of cases there is no need for any additional health tests. If such a need arises, the tests can be performed at our clinic.

Does a higher BMI have any effect on the surgery?

Yes. In order to achieve your goals, you can discuss this matter with one of our customer service representatives. They will help you liaise with our clinic’s dietician to help you lose weight. What’s more, our clinic can offer you individually tailored weight loss programmes.

Do I need to speak to my doctor before proceeding with the surgery?

It is recommended to consult your physician before the surgery. The majority of medical professionals are aware of medical travel. Consulting your GP may help you make an informed decision.

What should I talk about at the consultation with the surgeon?

The main purpose of the consultation is to make sure you find out everything that you want about the surgery. Ask anything that matters to you, there are no unimportant questions.
You are also welcome to inquire about the surgeon’s experience with similar surgeries or procedures. All of this is done to help you feel at ease with your decision. Another great idea is to ask for photos of the people who had surgery in order to assess whether you’d be content with the results.

Do I have to wait long to book a date?

At NordClinic we work to provide you with the most suitable date for your surgery.

Do the surgeries that you perform meet the same quality standards as the ones done in Western countries?

World class surgeons work at our clinic and they also arrange consultations in other countries such as Denmark, Ireland and the UK. It’s possible to get testimonials about their work from our previous clients.

Why should I choose Lithuania, which is a new country in the medical tourism arena?

- We believe that our country is flexible enough to become a competitive player in the market.
- Ease of reach is also an important aspect, as we have three international airports.
- The climate is not harsh. A member of the EU and NATO, Lithuania is a safe and modern Christian country situated in the middle of the continent.
- Compared to the Western countries, our expert surgeons offer much smaller prices for medical treatments.

What is the reason for lower prices?

Mainly it is due to the labour force which is cheaper here. In addition, the hourly wage compared to Western or Scandinavian countries is a lot lower. Also, insurance for professional liability is cheaper here.

How big are the savings I can make if I choose your services in Lithuania?

Compared to Western countries, the prices in Lithuania are 3-10 times lower. This statistical data has been taken from the Lithuanian Private Health Care Association. Furthermore, the savings also depend on the surgeries and procedures that you wish to have. Despite this, even if you include your flight tickets and hotel accommodation, you will still save a significant amount of money.

What’s the usual number of check-ups after the surgery?

Most of the times there are two check-ups with the surgeon. The first one is when the patient is discharged from the clinic and another one is done a day before the patient goes home. In case you require any additional check-ups, we are flexible and can arrange it.

What about the stitches? Who will remove them?

In surgery two types of stitches are used: non-dissolving and dissolving. If dissolving stitches have been used, then these do not need to be removed. The ones that are non-dissolving, should be removed 10-14 days after the completed surgery. You can have them removed in any hospital, either private or public. We recommend contacting your physician to arrange an appointment in advance.

Do you provide supporting garments or do I need to bring it with me?

One set will be provided to you free of charge. However, if you want to have a spare, you can purchase the second supporting garment set at our clinic.

Do I have to purchase any medication after the surgery?

At the clinic you will get all the medication that you need and you will also get a package with post-surgery medicine upon your leave. Sometimes surgeons prescribe certain medication that can be purchased at a pharmacy located in the same building as the clinic. If any questions arise with regards to your medication, feel free to contact our customer service representatives.

When will I start seeing results?

Generally, the final result is visible after six months. Your recovery also depends on the surgery and sometimes might take up to a year. You will see the results once the bruises have diminished, and the scarring process is over. Bear in mind that the scars become less visible two years after the surgery.

Does liposuction produce permanent results?

Fat cells that are removed by liposuction do not grow back. As long as the patient does not gain excessive amounts of weight, the new, more pleasing silhouette is permanent. However,  liposuction does not eliminate the usual changes in the shape of the body associated with the aging process. If a person gains weight after liposuction, she/he will not accumulate as much fat in the treated areas as would have happened if liposuction had not been done.

Does the fat come back in other spots after liposuction?

If a patient does not gain weight after liposuction, then fat does not accumulate in other areas of the body. However, if a patient gains a significant amount of weight, say more than 10 pounds (5 kg), after liposuction, the fat must go somewhere. In fact, the fat accumulates in every area of the body in proportion to the amount of fat cells in each area. Areas where fat cells have been removed by liposuction will accumulate relatively little fat, while areas not treated by liposuction will collect relatively more fat.

Are scars unavoidable in cosmetic surgery?

Incisions in any type of surgery will cause scars, which are the result of your body’s natural healing process. But in cosmetic surgery the cuts and incisions are made in a way to reduce their appearance, for instance, running along the natural skin folds. At the clinic you will also get a prescription for special medical ointments, which have to be applied a few times a day for 1-2 months. You should follow the exact instructions for best results.

What about the recovery period after the surgery?

Be prepared to expect results at least six months after the surgery. Swelling and pain in the surgical area is highly likely, which is your body’s natural response to the tissue damage caused by the surgery. To reduce the discomfort you will get prescribed medication. However, the healing process is individual and it is recommended to stay at the clinic at least 1-3 days and follow the surgeon’s instructions.

Can I take a plane back home right after the surgery?

It is not recommended to take a plane right after surgery due to a higher risk of blood clot formation. To prevent it and avoid any fatal situations, we recommend that our patients stay at the clinic for a few days. Your surgeon will advise you on the precautions and give special medication to help avoid blood clots. Once your health state has been properly evaluated, you will be able to return home.

Do your surgeons give sick notes?

The surgeon who performs the surgery will provide you with official recommendations about your post-surgery period. You can bring it to your GP and they will give you the official sick note.

When can I return to work after the surgery?

It depends on the type of surgery that you had performed. For specific questions like these make sure you discuss this with your surgeon at the pre-surgery consultation.

What are the chances of complications once I’ve returned back home?

In order to avoid any complications we recommend our patients to stay in Lithuania for at least five days as complications are most likely to arise in the first few days. Thus, if you are in Lithuania, we’d be able to help you out immediately.
Patients who follow the instructions strictly have a very low risk of complications. In very rare cases when the complications do show at home, you should contact our customer service representative at our clinic. In case of an urgent problem contact the nearest hospital or medical establishment.
